I started reading this with my writing community on LiveJournal.com. The first part is somewhat an autobiography. The book lends itself to be divided in half. The second cranks out tip after tip about writing. If you are a beginning writer, a writer that could use a push, a stellar writer, or a reader of oh just about anything you would enjoy this book. It is a bare bones look at the work of writing. There are no get published quick tips and you won’t find directions to the nearest great idea vendor. I think it is an honest appraisal of the work. I think he did a terrific job making the material interesting. I have been a fan for a long time. It was nice to be invited in to his writing world for a while. My favorite part of the entire affair is the passion he conveys about writing. That alone is encouraging.
